An online community of thrill-seeking perverts and sexual deviants is being investigated by cyber cops in Dubai. A seemingly innocuous web site for news, views and current affairs has been hijacked by UAE-based people searching for prostitutes, swapping sick sex fantasies and hunting for fetish partners. There are also chat rooms where users from around the world gather to discuss paedophilia, necrophilia and incest.Dubai Police’s Cyber Investigations Department has launched an investigation after 7DAYS showed officers the site.A senior detective said: “What these people are doing is highly illegal. We will find the owner of the site and where the server is held and go from there.”The postings appear in the site’s UAE forum, which contains 1,247 topics on everything from the UAE’s aid to Gaza to FIFA World Cup matches. But scrolling down the list also reveals the site is being used for discussions such as ‘Naked Massage in Dubai’, ‘Dubai Call Girls’, ‘Foot Fetish’ and ‘Looking for Dominatrix Lesbian in the UAE’.Warning over forumHundreds of prospective punters and prostitutes are supplying phone numbers, emails, swapping photos and bartering over prices. New posts appear on the site every hour, with dozens left each day. The forum, like the rest of the web site, is open to anyone and there is currently no censorship of the contents a rarity in the UAE where access to web sites is tightly controlled by the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority. And police say the site is likely being used as a portal for a raft of criminal activity - not just soliciting sex. Fraud and identity theft may also be rife, an investigator told 7DAYS. “It is possible that some of the posts from women saying they are prostitutes are actually from men who are posing as them,” the official said. “They will communicate by email, ask for payment by card, ask for account details and that sort of information.“Then they will sell on the details to others who will steal money from the person’s account. This is just one of the things that could be happening here.”
